🔍 Two ways to search
1. Lullar (free) — social profiles across 175+ platforms.
2. Spokeo (paid) — phone, address, public records. Open →
Quick answer: Whitepages is a directory: its homepage search takes a name, phone number or address, free results need no payment, and Premium adds cell numbers and background reports by subscription. Spokeo is a report: its search also accepts an email address or username, and the paid membership gathers address history, relatives and linked profiles. Both say they are not FCRA agencies. Lullar checks public profiles free before you pay either.

Quick Answer: Spokeo or Whitepages?

Disclosure: Lullar earns a commission if you buy a Spokeo membership through links on this page. Free checks first, a paid report only if you still need one.

They answer different questions. Whitepages is a directory: its homepage search takes a name, phone number or street address, and the site says no payment is needed to run a search or view free results. Spokeo is a report: its search takes a name, an email address or username, a phone number or an address, and the paid report gathers contact details, address history, relatives and linked profiles.

Spokeo vs Whitepages Compared: Inputs, Free Layer and Billing

Everything below comes from the two companies’ own pages as read on 31 October 2026 (links in the last section). Neither shows consumer membership prices outside checkout, so we compare how each bills, not what it costs this week.

Both compile public records, both tell you to do your own due diligence, and neither publishes an accuracy figure, so treat every match as a lead. Our paid people search comparison sets both against the other membership services.

Email or Username Lookups: Spokeo

Spokeo's search takes a name, an email address or username, a phone number or an address, and its paid reports gather contact details, address history and linked profiles from public records. A trial converts to a renewing membership unless cancelled, so read the sign-up screen.

Where Whitepages Fits: Free Listings, Reverse Phone and Reverse Address

For a directory question Whitepages is the natural first stop, with no account needed: a last name and a place returns a listing; a phone number promises the owner plus “scam/fraud ratings” and “carrier information”; an address returns residents and property details. For who is calling me, our who called me guide and reverse phone lookup comparison put the free checks first.

On email, be careful what you assume. Whitepages counts “571M Email Addresses” in its data and says a Premium report includes “phone numbers, emails, and public record information”, so emails appear as output; the consumer homepage we read had no tab for entering an email as the search. If an email is all you have, confirm on the live site before paying for Premium.

Where Spokeo Fits: Email, Username or Phone as the Starting Point

Spokeo is built for starting from an identifier. Its “Search by Email or Username” tab promises “email owner information, connected social profiles, photos and videos, recent posts, and more”, and the homepage lists the report categories: contact information, address history, social profiles, property and court records, the last “not included in all plans”. Spokeo also says criminal records “may not relate to the subject of your search”, which is how to read any people-search result. Our Spokeo review covers what readers report; reverse email lookup lists the free checks to run first.

Before you click: Spokeo’s payment policy says a trial converts to a renewing paid membership unless cancelled by 11:59 PM Pacific on its last day, with no refunds or proration. Trial length and price appear at sign-up.

How Each One Bills: Trials, Renewals and Cancelling

Spokeo (payment policy): an uncancelled trial converts to an ongoing subscription; cancel before 11:59 PM Pacific on the trial’s last day; plans are prepaid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually and renew at the same term; all sales are final; unused searches do not roll over; cancel under “Usage & Subscriptions” in Account Settings or by phone.

Whitepages (business pricing FAQ): subscriptions “automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle”; cancel any time in account settings or via support, with no charge for the next cycle; payment options are monthly, annual and one-time. On 31 October 2026 its business plans were metered at $9.99 for 20, $22.99 for 100 and $32.99 for 200 lookups a month; the consumer Premium price appears at checkout, which we could not load.

Rule of thumb: one lookup, use the free layer or a one-time purchase; a month of lookups, compare the search allowance per billing period, not the headline price.

What Neither Does, and the Free Step Before Both

Neither searches by photo (use a reverse image search), neither shows anything inside a private account, and both are US-focused.

Lullar is a free starting point, not a report: a name, email or username becomes one-click searches on 175 public platforms; a username is checked directly on about 60 of them; an email is checked for a Gravatar, and the part before the @ is tested as a username, where a hit may be someone else. It has no phone search or public records, cannot see private accounts, and does not detect which services an email is signed up to. Run it from the box above before you pay for anything; Lullar vs Spokeo shows where the free check stops. For an email, search social media accounts by email and username search by email go step by step.

How to Choose Between Spokeo and Whitepages

Personal use only. The consumer sites here say they are not consumer reporting agencies under the FCRA, so their results may not be used for employment, tenant, credit or insurance decisions. Whitepages also sells business and API products under separate terms; its own pages say those are not FCRA products either. Such decisions need a consumer reporting agency; none of these products is one.

Sources and Method (checked 31 October 2026)

Public pages read on 31 October 2026 without logging in or buying anything; we quote them, not third-party reviews. Both help centres and Whitepages’ checkout and terms pages returned access errors, so we say nothing about them.

Not verified: either consumer membership price, Spokeo’s current trial terms, and whether Whitepages offers a consumer email search beyond its homepage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Spokeo better than Whitepages?

It depends on what you hold. Whitepages' search takes a name, phone number or address and shows free results. Spokeo's also takes an email address or username, and its paid report gathers contact details, address history and linked profiles. For an email or handle, Spokeo accepts it; for a free listing or reverse phone check, Whitepages.

Is Whitepages free?

Partly. Whitepages says no payment is needed to run a search or view free results. Cell phone numbers, background reports and property ownership are added by Whitepages Premium, a subscription that renews automatically until cancelled.

Does Whitepages search by email address?

We could not confirm a consumer email search: the homepage tabs were People Search, Reverse Phone and Reverse Address, with emails appearing as data inside reports. Check the live site before paying. Spokeo's search explicitly accepts an email or username; Lullar's free check runs one across public platforms.

How much do Spokeo and Whitepages cost?

Neither shows its consumer membership price on the pages we could read; both reveal it at checkout. Spokeo bills a prepaid membership monthly to annually, and a trial converts unless cancelled by 11:59 PM Pacific on its last day. Whitepages subscriptions renew automatically, with monthly, annual and one-time options.

Can I use Spokeo or Whitepages to screen a tenant or employee?

No. Spokeo says it is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. Whitepages says its reports are not FCRA compliant and that its business and API products are not FCRA products either. Use a consumer reporting agency.

Which is more accurate, Spokeo or Whitepages?

Neither publishes an accuracy rate, and both tell you to do your own due diligence; Spokeo adds that criminal records may not relate to the person you searched. Treat any result as a lead and confirm it with a second source.
