🔍 Two ways to search
1. Lullar (free) — social profiles across 175+ platforms.
2. Spokeo (paid) — phone, address, public records. Open →
Quick answer: TruePeopleSearch is a free, ad-supported US directory with no accounts that returns current and past addresses, phone numbers, emails, relatives and associates for a name, phone, address or email. Spokeo is a paid membership whose search also takes a username and whose report adds social profiles and, in some plans, court records. Run the free directory and Lullar first, then pay only for what they lack.

Quick Answer: Spokeo or TruePeopleSearch?

Disclosure: Lullar earns a commission if you buy a Spokeo membership through links on this page. Free checks first, a paid report only if you still need one.

One is free and one is paid, and that is most of the answer. TruePeopleSearch calls itself “a 100% free people search, reverse phone lookup and address lookup service”, pays for itself with ads, and for a name, phone number, address or email returns “current and past addresses, phone numbers, relatives, friends, roommates, email addresses, and business ownership”. Spokeo sells a membership whose search also takes a username, and whose report adds social media profiles, property data and, in some plans, court records.

Spokeo vs TruePeopleSearch Compared: Inputs, Results, Price and Billing

Spokeo’s rows come from its own pages as read on 31 October 2026. TruePeopleSearch’s rows come from its own pages too, but from copies saved by the Wayback Machine (homepage 23 April 2025, help page 5 June 2026, address-lookup page 16 June 2026), because the live site returned a Cloudflare “you have been blocked” page to our request from outside the United States on 31 October 2026. US readers should see the live site; the wording may have moved on since those dates.

Both compile public records they did not create, and neither publishes an accuracy rate; TruePeopleSearch says plainly that it cannot fix a wrong entry, and Spokeo says criminal records “may not relate to the subject of your search”. Our paid people search comparison puts Spokeo beside BeenVerified, TruthFinder and Intelius, and best free people search tools ranks the free directories.

When the Free Directory Is Not Enough: Spokeo

Spokeo's search takes a name, an email address or username, a phone number or an address, and its paid report gathers contact details, address history, social profiles, property data and, in some plans, court records from US public records. A trial converts to a renewing membership unless cancelled.

Where TruePeopleSearch Fits: Free, No Account, Strong on Addresses and Phones

TruePeopleSearch’s help page is unusually direct about its model: “Yes, we are really 100% free. What’s the catch? Well, the only ‘catch’ is we show ads on this site to provide revenue to keep this service running.” It says its database “is comprised of literally thousands of public records sources” and claims that “the data we provide on this site for free is the same data the pay sites use”, a claim we cannot test but which matches what the paid sites themselves say about compiling public records. There are no accounts: “We never ask for your email address or other personal information.”

Its strengths are the three searches it leads with. The address lookup “reveals everyone associated with any US address - current residents, previous occupants, and property owner information”, and a neighbours lookup shows “everyone living nearby on an interactive map”. The reverse phone lookup promises “the name, current address, address history, relatives, associates and more”. The result for a person lists “current and past addresses, all known phone numbers associated with the person, relatives, associates, email addresses, and possible business listings”. For who called me, who lives here and where does this person live now, that is the whole job, free; our who called me and property owner guides put it in order with the other free checks.

Its limits are also on its pages. There is no username search and no photo search, social profiles are not listed in results, and neither are court or criminal records. Wrong data cannot be corrected (“we don’t currently offer a way to change it”), only removed. The site shows developer-API offers from Endato and EnformionGO, so it sits in that data family. And it answers from US records for US adults; from outside the US, its site blocked our request outright on 31 October 2026.

Where Spokeo Fits: Username, Social Profiles and Records Behind One Identifier

Spokeo earns its price in three places TruePeopleSearch does not go. First, the input: its Email tab is labelled “Search by Email or Username”, so a handle from a dating app, a marketplace or a forum is a valid starting point. Second, the social layer: “social media profiles” is one of the six report categories on its homepage, next to contact information, address history, property data and assets, personal details and court records. Third, the records: court records are available “in some plans”, with the footnote that “additional fees may apply” and that “criminal records may not relate to the subject of your search”.

On price, Spokeo publishes nothing on its public pages; reviewers in autumn 2026 quoted about $20–25 a month and about $15 a month on a three-month plan. Its payment policy says plans are prepaid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually, renew at the same term, and that “unused searches do not rollover”; it also mentions “Single Report purchases” among its options, with the terms shown at sign-up. Our Spokeo review covers what readers report; reverse email lookup and who owns an email address put the free and paid steps in order.

Before you click: Spokeo’s payment policy says a trial converts to a renewing paid membership unless cancelled by 11:59 PM Pacific on its last day, with no refunds or proration. Trial length and price appear at sign-up.

Billing: What Spokeo Charges and What TruePeopleSearch Does Not

Spokeo (payment policy): an uncancelled trial “shall convert to an ongoing subscription”; cancellations “must be received prior to 11:59 PM PT on the last day of the trial”; plans are prepaid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually and renew at the same term; all sales are final, with no refund or proration for partial months; unused searches do not roll over; cancel under “Usage & Subscriptions” in Account Settings or by phone at 1-888-271-9562, seven days a week.

TruePeopleSearch has nothing to cancel: no account, no card, no trial. Its FAQ says “100% free people search, no credit card required”. The cost is the ads on the results page and, as with every free directory, the fact that your own record is in it too; the help page says removal is “extremely easy” through an automated form, and that Google may keep showing a removed page until its cache refreshes.

Rule of thumb: run the free directory first and pay Spokeo only for what the free result lacks, which is usually the username, the social profiles or the records. If you do start a Spokeo trial, set a reminder for its last day.

What Neither Does, and the Free Step Before Both

Neither searches by photo (use a reverse image search), neither shows anything inside a private account, and both hold US records only.

Lullar is a free starting point for the identifier TruePeopleSearch cannot take: a name, email or username becomes one-click searches on 175 public platforms; a username is checked directly on about 60 of them; an email is checked for a Gravatar, and the part before the @ is tested as a username, where a hit may be someone else. It has no phone search or public records, cannot see private accounts, and does not detect which services an email is signed up to. Run it from the box above before you pay for anything; Lullar vs Spokeo shows where the free check stops. For an email, search social media accounts by email and username search by email go step by step; for a handle, account finder checks it across public platforms.

How to Choose Between Spokeo and TruePeopleSearch

Personal use only. Both sites say they are not consumer reporting agencies under the FCRA. TruePeopleSearch's help page lists what it may not be used for: screening tenants, employees or domestic workers, educational qualifications, credit or insurance decisions, and reviewing a customer account. Such decisions need a consumer reporting agency; neither of these products is one.

Sources and Method (checked 31 October 2026)

Spokeo’s pages were read live on 31 October 2026 without logging in or buying anything. TruePeopleSearch’s live site returned a Cloudflare “Sorry, you have been blocked” page to our request from outside the US that day, so its quotes come from copies of its own pages saved by the Wayback Machine, each dated below. We quote the companies, not third-party reviews, except where a reviewer figure is labelled as such.

Not verified: Spokeo’s current price and trial terms, TruePeopleSearch’s wording after June 2026, and either site’s accuracy on any given person.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is TruePeopleSearch really free, and is Spokeo?

TruePeopleSearch's help page says it is 100% free with no accounts and no credit card, supported by ads. Spokeo's search is free to start but its reports need a paid membership; the price appears at checkout, and reviewers in autumn 2026 quoted about $20 to $25 a month.

What does Spokeo show that TruePeopleSearch does not?

On their own pages: a username search (Spokeo's Email tab is labelled Search by Email or Username), social media profiles as a report category, and court records in some plans with extra fees. TruePeopleSearch lists addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, relatives, associates and business ownership, with no username search and no court records.

Is TruePeopleSearch accurate?

It says its data comes from thousands of public records sources and is the same data the paid sites use, and it also says it cannot correct an entry that is wrong. Neither it nor Spokeo publishes an accuracy rate, so confirm any result with a second source.

Why can't I open TruePeopleSearch from outside the US?

Our request from outside the United States on 31 October 2026 was met with a Cloudflare block page. Its records cover US adults, so there is little to see from abroad anyway; Lullar works from anywhere for a name, email or username, and Spokeo's records are US-only too.

How do I remove myself from TruePeopleSearch or Spokeo?

TruePeopleSearch's help page says removal is extremely easy through its automated form and that Google may keep showing a removed page until its cache refreshes. Spokeo has its own opt-out; our removal guide covers both and the other people-search sites.

Can I use TruePeopleSearch or Spokeo to screen a tenant or employee?

No. Both say they are not consumer reporting agencies under the FCRA, and TruePeopleSearch's help page lists tenant, employee and domestic-worker screening, credit and insurance decisions among the uses it forbids. Use a consumer reporting agency.
