Quick Answer: The Best FamilyTreeNow Alternatives
Disclosure: Lullar earns a commission if you buy a Spokeo membership through links on this page. Free checks first, a paid report only if you still need one.
FamilyTreeNow is a free US people search that 2026 privacy guides describe as needing no account, with listings of relatives and past addresses. It does not open for everyone: our requests from outside the US on 2 November 2026 got a Cloudflare page reading “Sorry, you have been blocked”. The alternatives, by what you need:
- A living person’s address, phone or relatives, free: TruePeopleSearch or FastPeopleSearch (US only).
- Family history, ancestors, census records: FamilySearch, free with an account, or WikiTree.
- A free preview with an upgrade: ZabaSearch, which is run by Intelius.
- Outside the US, or blocked: Lullar finds public social profiles from a name, free, in any country.
- Current address, phone, relatives and address history in one report: Spokeo, paid.
Is FamilyTreeNow Still Free, and Why Does It Block You?
The 2026 removal guides from Incogni, Cybernews and CrabClear all describe FamilyTreeNow as a free people search you can use without an account, and its opt-out as free. We could not confirm that on its own pages, because familytreenow.com returned Cloudflare’s “Sorry, you have been blocked” page to every request we made from Thailand on 31 October and 2 November 2026.
That page means a rule set by the site owner stopped the request. Cloudflare and the guides that explain these pages list the usual triggers: where you connect from, a VPN or a hosting network’s address, or too many requests in a short time. FamilyTreeNow does not publish its rules, so we can’t say which one applies to you. What usually helps:
- Turn the VPN or proxy off completely and reload in a new tab.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- Wait; a block for too many searches often lifts on its own.
If you are outside the US, expect US-only directories to stay blocked and use the alternatives below.
Spokeo's search takes a name, a phone number, an address, or an email or username, and its paid report gathers current contact details, address history, relatives, social profiles and, in some plans, court records from US public records. A trial converts to a renewing membership unless cancelled.

From each service’s own pages and our earlier reviews, except where marked. The first question is whether you are looking for a living person or for family history; FamilyTreeNow mixes both, the alternatives don’t.
| Service | For | Search by | Free? | Outside the US? | What it returns |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TruePeopleSearch | Living people | Name, phone, address, email | Yes, ad-supported | Blocked our request | Likely address, past addresses, phones, possible relatives |
| FastPeopleSearch | Living people | Name, phone, street address | Yes, ad-supported | Blocked our request | The same kind of listing; a second opinion |
| Nuwber | Living people | Name, phone, address | Limited preview; paid plan | Blocked our request | Preview free, full profile paid; see Nuwber alternatives |
| ZabaSearch | Living people | Name | Its homepage says “Free*” | US records | A free preview, with an upgrade to a paid Intelius report |

For Living People: Address, Phone and Relatives
Most people use FamilyTreeNow to find a living relative, an old friend or a current address. For that job the closest free replacements are TruePeopleSearch and FastPeopleSearch: free, ad-supported, no account, and both list possible relatives next to each address. TruePeopleSearch also takes an email address; FastPeopleSearch is the second opinion when a listing is missing or old. Both are US-only and may block you for the same reasons FamilyTreeNow does.
Our guides go step by step: how to find someone’s relatives, find lost family members and how to find an old friend. When those two fail, see TruePeopleSearch alternatives and FastPeopleSearch alternatives.
For Family History: FamilySearch and WikiTree
If you came to FamilyTreeNow for ancestors rather than living people, a people-search directory is the wrong tool. FamilySearch, run by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is free with a free account and holds census, birth, marriage and death records and shared family trees from many countries. WikiTree is a free, collaborative family tree. Neither shows a living person’s phone or current address, by design.
ZabaSearch: Free, With an Asterisk
ZabaSearch is often suggested as a free FamilyTreeNow alternative. Its homepage, read on 2 November 2026, says “Free*”, and its footer reads “© 2026 Intelius LLC” and “Zabasearch powered by Intelius”. The free part is a preview: name, age and a partial address and phone. The full listing is an upgrade to a paid Intelius report, so ZabaSearch is closer to a paid people search with a free front page than to FamilyTreeNow. Our paid people search services compared page covers Intelius.
Outside the US or Blocked: Lullar
If FamilyTreeNow blocks you because of where you are, every US directory probably will too. Finding someone’s public social accounts from their name does not need a US connection. Lullar does that job free, with no signup and no account. A name, email or username becomes one-click searches on 175 public platforms; a username is checked directly on about 60 of them; an email is checked for a Gravatar, and the part before the @ is tested as a username, where a hit may be someone else. It cannot see private accounts and has no phone search, addresses or public records.
Use the box above, or follow find someone on social media by name.
When the Free Result Isn't Enough: Spokeo
Free directories stop at a likely address and a list of possible relatives, and they are often years old. If you need a US resident’s current address, phone numbers, relatives and address history on one page, that is a paid report. Spokeo’s homepage offers search by name, phone, address and “Search by Email or Username”, describes “over 12 billion records” and access to public records on “over 250 million people”, and footnotes that “Criminal court records are not included in all plans. Additional fees may apply.” Its payment policy describes trial cancellation “prior to 11:59 PM PT on the last day of the trial”, “Unused searches do not rollover” and “All sales of all Spokeo premium content are final.” Spokeo does not publish a monthly price on its homepage; reviewers in autumn 2026 quoted about $20–25 a month.
Read our Spokeo review first, or compare the others in Spokeo alternatives.
Personal use only. Spokeo says it is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA, so its results may not be used for employment, tenant, credit, insurance or other eligibility decisions, and TruePeopleSearch and FastPeopleSearch say the same of themselves. Use a consumer reporting agency for those.
Before you click: Spokeo’s trial converts to a renewing membership unless you cancel before 11:59 PM PT on its last day, and its sales are final.
How to Remove Yourself From FamilyTreeNow
The opt-out is free and needs no account. We could not open it from Thailand, so these steps are as the 2026 guides from Incogni, Cybernews and CrabClear describe them:
- Go to familytreenow.com/optout, enter your email address, complete the CAPTCHA and click “Begin Opt Out Procedure”.
- Search for your record by name, city, state and birth year, and click “view details” on your listing.
- Click “Opt Out This Record”.
- Open the email FamilyTreeNow sends and click the link to confirm.
CrabClear says the site states requests take up to 72 hours. Repeat the steps for every duplicate listing under an old address or a name variation. Removal from FamilyTreeNow does not remove you anywhere else; our guide to removing yourself from people search sites covers the others.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is FamilyTreeNow free?
2026 privacy guides describe FamilyTreeNow as a free people search that needs no account, and its opt-out is free. We could not check its own pages, because it blocked our requests from outside the US.
Why is FamilyTreeNow blocking me?
The "Sorry, you have been blocked" page comes from a rule FamilyTreeNow set in Cloudflare. Common triggers are connecting from outside the US, using a VPN or hosting network, or running many searches quickly. Turn the VPN off, switch networks or wait.
Does FamilyTreeNow work outside the US?
Not for us: every request from Thailand on 31 October and 2 November 2026 was blocked. Its records cover US residents anyway. Outside the US, Lullar finds someone's public social profiles from a name, free.
What is better than FamilyTreeNow?
It depends on the job. TruePeopleSearch and FastPeopleSearch give a free US address, phone and relatives listing; FamilySearch is better for ancestors; Spokeo puts a US resident's current details and address history in one paid report.
Is ZabaSearch really free?
Partly. Its homepage says "Free*": a preview of name, age and a partial address and phone is free, and the full listing is an upgrade to a paid Intelius report. The footer says ZabaSearch is powered by Intelius.
Is FamilyTreeNow accurate?
No people-search site guarantees its data. Listings are compiled from public records and can be out of date or mix up people with the same name, so confirm an address with a second source before you rely on it.
Can I use FamilyTreeNow or an alternative to screen a tenant or employee?
No. Spokeo, TruePeopleSearch and FastPeopleSearch say they are not consumer reporting agencies under the FCRA, so their results may not be used for employment, tenancy, credit or insurance decisions. Use a consumer reporting agency.
