How to Find a Discord User by Email or Phone Number (2026)
Updated: October 2026 · 175+ platforms searched
Quick Answer: Can You Find Someone on Discord by Email or Phone?
By phone, only if both of you opt in. Discord's Find Your Friends feature matches phone contacts, but both people must turn it on and verify a phone number. By email, no: Discord adds friends by exact username only and has no email lookup.
So the real task is finding the person's Discord username. People often reuse a handle, put their Discord name in other profiles, or share servers with you. Lullar's free search checks a handle, name or email across 175+ networks so you can find the profiles where they might list it; Lullar does not search phone numbers. Use this for personal reasons, not for employment, tenant or credit decisions.
How Discord Matches Phone Numbers
Find Your Friends is in Discord's mobile app. Discord's FAQ says both people must opt in and have a verified phone number, that numbers are hashed, and that raw numbers are not stored.
- Save the person's number in your phone's contacts.
- In the Discord mobile app, open the friends screen and choose the option to find friends from your contacts, then verify your own number when asked.
- If the person has opted in too, they appear as someone you can add.
Anyone can block this under User Settings > Privacy & Safety by turning off Allow contacts to add me. Many people never turn the feature on at all.
Search an email or phone number in 12+ billion US records for the owner's name and linked social profiles where found.

Discord never shows the email an account uses, and Add Friend accepts only a username. Since 2023 Discord has replaced the old Name#1234 tags with unique lowercase usernames plus a separate display name, so you need the exact username, not the display name. An email is still useful as a clue: the part before the @ is often a gaming handle. Paste the email into the search at the top of this page; Lullar checks the address's Gravatar and searches the handle across 175+ networks. A handle match means an account with that name exists, which may be someone else's.

Where to Find Someone's Discord Username
| Where | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Shared servers | Their display name in the member list; click it to see the username |
| Twitch, YouTube, TikTok bios | Creators link a Discord server or list their username |
| Steam, Reddit, gaming forums | The same handle, or a Discord name in a profile or post |
| Mutual friends | Discord shows mutual friends and servers on a profile |
Once you have a candidate, enter it exactly in Friends > Add Friend. For more server and handle tactics, see how to find someone on Discord.
From an Email or Number to a Real Person
If your goal is to know who someone on Discord really is, for example someone who is messaging your child, look up the email or number they gave you. Spokeo (founded 2006, Pasadena, California) searches more than 12 billion records by email, phone, name and address, and can return the owner's name, location and linked social profiles where found. Reviewers in September 2026 reported about $20–30 a month; confirm at checkout. Then search the name on Lullar to see whether their other profiles match what they told you.
Safety: Parents and Teens
Discord requires users to be at least 13 (older in some countries). Its Family Center lets a parent, with the teen's agreement, see which servers they join and who they add or message, without reading the messages. If an adult is pressuring a young person for images or a meeting, save the evidence, report the account to Discord's Trust & Safety team, and report to the NCMEC CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org and the police. Never use a found username to harass, dox or follow someone across servers.
Which Method to Use When
- You both use Discord on your phones: Find Your Friends with contact sync.
- You share a server: look them up in the member list.
- You only have an email: search the handle and email on Lullar, then look for a Discord name in their bios.
- You need to know who they are: Spokeo's reverse email or phone lookup.
- You have a handle from another site: see reverse username search.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you add someone on Discord with their email?
No. Discord's Add Friend works only with an exact username, and Discord does not show anyone's email address.
Can you find someone on Discord with their phone number?
Only through Find Your Friends in the mobile app, and only if both of you opted in and verified a phone number. Anyone can block it by turning off Allow contacts to add me.
What's the difference between a Discord username and display name?
The username is unique and lowercase, and it is what you need to add someone. The display name is what most people see in chats and does not have to be unique.
Does Lullar search Discord?
Lullar searches a username, name or email across 175+ networks for free, which helps you find the profiles where someone lists their Discord name. It does not search phone numbers or Discord's user base directly.
Is it legal to look up someone's Discord?
Looking for a public username for personal reasons is legal. Doxxing or harassing someone is not, and people-search reports may not be used for employment, tenant, credit or insurance decisions under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
