US Search is a legitimate paid people search. Its footer reads “© 2026 Intelius LLC d/b/a US Search”: it is an Intelius brand inside PeopleConnect, alongside TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate. On 3 November 2026 its pricing page listed $19.99 a month, $47.52 for three months or $83.16 for six, with unlimited person, location, phone and email reports. What to use instead, by task:
- A free US name, phone or address search: TruePeopleSearch, FastPeopleSearch, or ZabaSearch’s free listing (also Intelius).
- Their public social profiles, anywhere: Lullar, free, no signup.
- A paid report from a database outside the Intelius family: Spokeo, $19.95 a month.

Is US Search Legit? Who Runs It
US Search has been around a long time: its homepage says it “Launched in 1993” to help people find lost friends and family. Today it is run by Intelius LLC, whose parent PeopleConnect describes its brands as “Classmates’ one-of-a-kind social network, Intelius’ reverse phone profiles, TruthFinder’s broad reach, US Search’s legacy, and Instant Checkmate’s trusted insight”. US Search’s customer support is (888) 712-0108, Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm Pacific.
Legit is not the same as accurate. US Search’s own disclaimer says its information “may not be 100% accurate, complete, or up to date” and that it is not a consumer reporting agency. Treat a report as a lead to confirm, not a verdict.
Because US Search, Intelius and ZabaSearch share an owner, a second search on a sister site is unlikely to correct the first. A real second opinion comes from another company; see ZabaSearch alternatives and Intelius alternatives.
Spokeo's search takes a name, a phone number, an address, or an email or username, and its paid report gathers current contact details, address history, relatives, social profiles and, in some plans, court records from US public records. A trial converts to a renewing membership unless cancelled.

US Search’s pricing page on 3 November 2026 offered one People Search membership in three terms, each with “Unlimited Person Reports”, “Unlimited Location Reports”, “Unlimited Phone Reports”, “Unlimited Email Reports” and report monitoring:

Its terms say each plan “will automatically renew every 30 days” (or 90, or 180) “unless you cancel before the start of the next term”, and that promotional plans bill “at the rate and frequency disclosed at the time you enroll”. Prices are before sales tax. Month to month, US Search and Spokeo cost about the same; on a six-month plan US Search is lower per month, and its reports are unlimited where Spokeo’s are “up to 100 reports per month”.

Between the sister sites, the choice is mostly price: US Search’s membership is lower per month than Intelius People Search on every term listed, and ZabaSearch is the free listing that sells Intelius reports. US Search vs Spokeo: Which One to Pay For
Both cost about $20 a month. The difference is whose records you get and what you can type in.
- Choose US Search if you will run many reports over six months (unlimited, $13.86 a month on that plan), or you want arrest and court records, which its report lists where available.
- Choose Spokeo if you already tried an Intelius-family site and want a second database, or you start from an email address or username: Spokeo’s homepage offers “Search by Email or Username”. Its three-month plan is $14.95 a month.
- Neither, yet, if a free directory or Lullar already answers the question.
Spokeo’s homepage footnotes that “Criminal court records are not included in all plans. Additional fees may apply.”, and its payment policy says “All sales of all Spokeo premium content are final.” Read our Spokeo review, or compare more services in paid people search services compared.

Free Alternatives to US Search
US Search’s reports need a membership. For a basic free look at a US name first:
- ZabaSearch: a free listing with age, relatives, phones and past addresses; it is also Intelius, so treat it as the same source.
- TruePeopleSearch and FastPeopleSearch: free, ad-supported, from other companies; see TruePeopleSearch alternatives.

- Social profiles from a name, email or username: Lullar, below.

Outside the US, or Blocked: Lullar
If you are outside the US, or the free US directories refuse you, finding someone’s public social profiles still works from anywhere. Lullar does that job free, with no signup and no account. A name, email or username becomes one-click searches on 175 public platforms; a username is checked directly on about 60 of them; an email is checked for a Gravatar, and the part before the @ is tested as a username, where a hit may be someone else. It cannot see private accounts and has no phone search, addresses or public records.

How to Cancel US Search
From US Search’s terms of use, 3 November 2026:
- Online: log in and cancel from your account dashboard.
- By phone: (888) 712-0108, 7:00am to 4:00pm PT, Monday to Friday (holiday hours vary).
- What cancelling does: it cancels upcoming bills; bills already issued are still owed.
- Timing: cancel before the next 30-, 90- or 180-day term starts, or it renews at the plan’s fee.
Its terms also say a chargeback “may be treated as potential cases of fraud” and can end your access, so cancel through the site or the phone line first.
How to Remove Yourself From US Search (Opt Out)
US Search’s Data Privacy Center separates two things, and the difference matters:
- “Delete My User Data” removes your account, search history and payment records. It says it “will NOT prevent other users from searching for your Public Data”.
- A Suppression Request hides your Background Report when someone searches your name. That is the opt-out most people want.
PeopleConnect’s Suppression Center (suppression.peopleconnect.us) is free. On 3 November 2026 it started with one step: enter your email address, agree to its terms, and open the verification link it emails you; from there you find your Background Report and suppress it. It says suppression applies “on all people search sites in the PeopleConnect family including TruthFinder.com, InstantCheckmate.com, Intelius.com and USSearch.com”, and that a suppressed report is not shown when someone searches you by name.
- Open ussearch.com/privacy-center (or go straight to suppression.peopleconnect.us).
- Enter your email, agree to the terms, and open the verification link in the email.
- Find your Background Report and suppress it.
- To stop your name appearing as a relative or associate in other people’s reports, use the separate form on the privacy center page, which asks for your name and date of birth.
