Quick Answer: BeenVerified, TruthFinder or Instant Checkmate?

On the three companies' own pricing pages, read on 3 November 2026, TruthFinder is the cheapest month to month at $28.99, then Instant Checkmate at $35.47 and BeenVerified at $36.89. TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate are sister brands under PeopleConnect and list nearly the same report sections, so between those two the choice is mostly price: TruthFinder costs $6.48 a month less, and its three- and six-month plans are cheaper again. BeenVerified is the different one: it puts phone, email and address lookups in every plan, adds license-plate and unclaimed-money searches, and caps you at 100 reports a month where the other two say unlimited.

For the search most people actually run, a name, an unknown number, an email or a username, there is a fourth option that costs less than all three: Spokeo, at $19.95 a month or $14.95 a month on a three-month plan, with all five search types in one membership. It is lighter on court records, which matters only if the record is your question. The table below has every figure.

The cheapest way to use each one is different. TruthFinder rewards a longer commitment ($20.17 a month on six months). Instant Checkmate's three-month plan still costs more per month than TruthFinder's monthly plan. BeenVerified's price includes the reverse lookups the other two sell separately, so a TruthFinder member who also wants email reports pays $58.72 a month across the two plans. Spokeo is the lowest on every row where all four list a price.

Costs Less Than All Three: Spokeo at $19.95 a Month

Spokeo runs name, phone, email, address and username searches across 12+ billion US records in one membership, $9 to $17 a month below BeenVerified, TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate on their own pricing pages.

TruthFinder vs Instant Checkmate: Same Owner, Different Price

This is the pair people ask about most, and the honest answer is that they are close to the same product. Both are run by PeopleConnect, both describe their data as federal, state and county public records plus other public sources, both list unlimited person reports, unlimited location reports and report monitoring, and their "reports may include" lists match almost line for line: birth information, photos, phone numbers, emails, address history, employment, education, business ownership, assets, criminal and traffic records and court records. In 2023 the two brands settled Federal Trade Commission charges together, with a $5.8 million civil penalty.

What separates them is the bill:

So for a person report, TruthFinder is the better buy of the two on its own price list. Instant Checkmate only comes out ahead if you want one downloadable report and nothing recurring on top. Our Instant Checkmate review and TruthFinder cost guide cover each one alone, including how to cancel.

BeenVerified vs Instant Checkmate

These two are built differently. Instant Checkmate sells a person-report membership at $35.47 a month with unlimited reports, and a separate phone plan. BeenVerified charges $36.89 a month for one plan that its pricing page says includes background reports, contact information, phone, email and address lookups and criminal and traffic records, capped at 100 reports a month. On top of that, BeenVerified runs license-plate and unclaimed-money searches that none of the PeopleConnect brands list.

Pick Instant Checkmate if you expect to run more than 100 person reports in a month, which few personal users do. Pick BeenVerified if you will search by phone, email or plate as well as by name, since you would pay extra for those on Instant Checkmate. On a three-month plan BeenVerified is the cheaper of the two, $23.98 against $28.38 a month. And if what you want is a name, phone, email or username search without the plate lookup, Spokeo covers the same searches for $19.95.

BeenVerified vs TruthFinder: Price, Trial and Records

Month to month, TruthFinder is $7.90 cheaper ($28.99 against $36.89). On three months the two are within a dollar ($23.00 against $23.98 a month), and only TruthFinder offers six months. The first week is where BeenVerified differs: its billing note describes a seven-day membership trial, while TruthFinder lists no trial, so the cheapest TruthFinder answer is a full month.

TruthFinder leans on records. Its report list adds possible criminal and traffic records, court records, assets, business ownership and possible associates. BeenVerified leans on breadth. Phone, email and address lookups are part of the one plan, and it adds plate and unclaimed-money searches. A TruthFinder member who wants reverse email as well pays for a second subscription that renews on its own, which is behind many "I cancelled and was still charged" complaints: cancel each plan separately.

Accuracy is similar because all of these services buy from overlapping public-record and data-broker sources; none publishes an accuracy rate. Cross-check any address before you act on it. Our BeenVerified review covers its report in testing.

Where Spokeo Is the Better Buy, and Where It Is Not

Better on price. At $19.95 a month, Spokeo is $9.04 below TruthFinder, $15.52 below Instant Checkmate and $16.94 below BeenVerified. On three months it is $14.95 a month, $8 to $13 below the others' three-month rates. Over a year on monthly plans that is $108 to $203 kept.

Better on what one plan covers. Name, phone, email, address and username searches are in the same membership. On TruthFinder, phone and email are separate plans; on Instant Checkmate, phone is. For the search most of our readers arrive with, who is behind a number, an email, a dating profile or a username, that matters more than record depth.

Not better on records. Spokeo's reports are lighter on criminal and court detail than TruthFinder's or Instant Checkmate's, it has no license-plate or unclaimed-money search, and its plan is capped at 100 reports a month like BeenVerified's. If one of those is your question, buy the service built for it.
